Cowboys & Love stories....

We had a great weekend over here at the Nixon house.  Friday I watched my favorite 2 little girls that I nannied for in college & when we were first married.  Kylie & Elle have grown up so much and I just cant believe it!  They will be passing me up in no time!  Which is so sad, considering they are in 1st and 2nd grade.  They are so smart & witty, I was laughing at their comments most of the night!  We ended the night with watching a dvr'd American Idol and picking our favorites.  It was so great to see them!

Arent they just adorable??!!  They are full of personality thats for sure!

On Saturday I was up early because NEW MOON came out on dvd!  I went to target, got the movie & planned on coming home & cleaning and working out.  I did a little bit of cleaning but then got unbelievably sidetracked by Pioneer Womans Romance Novel.  I love cowboys and love stories.  You should read it.  But make sure you have time cause you wont be able to stop!

Once I pried myself away from that online awesomeness Josh and I went to a family cookoff.  It was so much fun & boy was the food good!  There was Chili, chicken thighs & ribs.  It was great & we enjoyed the family time.  Then Beth and I watched New Moon!!  And yes of course it was just as great.  I am so glad that we can now watch that during our wonderful hangout times!

On Sunday we went to Josh's parents to celebrate Bethany's bithday and also his aunt's.  Beth's birthday is Friday...so Happy Birthday week!!  After the birthday bash, I decided to make Pioneer Womans Cajun Chicken Pasta and it was delicious!!  Josh loved it, and so did I....so it is becoming a staple meal in the Nixon household!  I went and bought the Pioneer Womans Cookbook!  I am looking forward to that coming!

I hear Arkansas has snow...hopefully they are taking Minnesota's place??  Well my Arkansas friends you can have it!  I am glad to be enjoying the 40-60 degree weather here!!  Enjoy the rest of your week!

Show us your life - Favorite Charities

I have always had a huge heart for children.  Babies, toddlers, "big kids", you name it - they get to me.  I love trying to figure them out, helping, supporting and above all, loving.  After I had Emma, that only increased to say the least.

We now raise money and awareness for the March of Dimes by specifically walking in the March for Babies event!  I am so thrilled we can make this event a part of our family and we are so blessed that we have family and friends that support us as well.  We are looking forward to walking again in April!!

I also have a huge passion to support the NICU at Children's hospital that did so much for us.  I vividly remember them trying to save Emma which I am forever grateful for.  I enjoy bringing baskets of baby things to them so other families in the NICU can utilize them.  I have known a few families in there on the infamous "NICU Rollercoaster" and I only want to help them.

And of course, last but certainly not least, our church.  It is such a wonderful church that Josh and I have so enjoyed going to over the past 4+ years.  If you are in MN and looking for a church - Eaglebrook is a wonderful place!

Well I look forward to checking everyone else's charity's featured on Kelly's blog!  Such a great idea!

Have a great weekend!!  I am looking forward to going to church and dinner with Jayson, Bethany & Hopers!  Then Bethany and I are going to enjoy the night watching the Eclipse trailer!!!  I cannot wait!!! :)

Lazy Sunday

I had a majorly lazy Sunday...and although I love doing that I always feel so guilty when that happens.  I had church nursery in the morning which I love.  We had gone to church on Saturday night so I was able to go home right after which began my lazy day :)  But I ended kicking my butt in gear and completed ALL the laundry, set out our outfits for work (gag), made salsa for dinner and packed our lunches.  Then we are sat on the couch with the dishwasher running (hearing that is one of my favorite.things.ever!!) and I had a glass of wine (which isnt nearly as good without my SIL)  while watching the oscar's (which were not as good as I thought they would be)...

We had a good weekend - On Friday we hungout with Chad & Destinee and she had made some great chicken tacos.  She has a wonderful cooking blog so if you are in need of some recipes you need to check out her blog!  On Saturday Tonya and I did some major overdue shopping which is always fun!  Then we went to church & dinner and then had a blast playing NERTZ!!!  Well Tonya and I did...the guys arent totally into it yet...but we love it!

All in all we had a good weekend...I had some great purchases at Ann Taylor Loft which is one of my favorite stores!!  Tonya will tell you I am pretty pumped about my comfy sweater...it was $$ well spent!!  This obviously isnt me in this picture but I just had to show you this sweater!  I am wearing it right now :)  It is so comfortable & such a great add to my week attire!  I have a feeling that Bethany will be seeing it this weekend!!

Ugh!  I just went to their website to get this picture & now it is $10 what I paid just 2 days ago!!  So frustrating.  Oh well - I also got great necklace on sale & a couple scarfs for next year!

Well I am going to finish Jason & Molly's wedding - I love weddings - although they are not the same as before.  I cannot help but think of our sweet Emma.  I will never get to see her walk down that aisle with her daddy by her side.  It breaks my heart all over again.  I think weddings will always trigger some sort of bittersweet feelings for me...

Well blogger friends!  Hope all of you are doing great...spring is around the corner which I am SO thrilled about - I am so sick of this MN winter!

Did you have a good weekend???

Fun weekend with the Evans family!

We had a great weekend with The Evans Family a couple weeks ago- we wish they lived closer!!  I am so behind on this blog....dont get me wrong I try to keep up with others (Josh can attest to that!) but my life isnt too interesting to blog about...yet ;)

Anyways!  Back to our fun weekend!  We enjoyed our time with Jon, Katie, Hallie and Harper.  Harper was born on December 31st and just sweet as can be.  Hallie just turned 2 on January 30!  She is growing up and just so fun - I cannot believe how big she is getting!  She is very smart and hilarious!!  She loved on Kobe and it was so cute!  After the girlies went to bed...well Hallie, because Harper just loved staying up late with us :)...we played many games of rook & nertz - the weekend went by way to fast!!  Hallie & Harper so both so lovely and sweet and I know they will grow up in such a wonderful Christian home and will be blessed beyond their years!  We love you all so much and cant wait for our next get together!!

Here are some pictures from our fun weekend!  If you would like to see more - head over to Katie's blog!!
