Chocolate chip pound cake

I first saw this cake on the Francis Family Blog  and knew I had to make it, it looked delicious!  Destinee beat me to it and brought me a piece to try...and friends it did not disappoint!!!  Seriously so good.   I am going to plead the 5th on how many times I have made this cake.

Chocolate Chip Pound Cake

  • 1 (3.9 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix

momma was tired (time for cereal!)

We started giving Kallen rice cereal on her 5 month birthday (5/6/11).  She had been sleeping through the night and eating consistently every 3-3.5 hours and then all of a sudden she was waking up in the night again to eat & wanting to nurse about every 2.5 hours during the day.  So I talked to her pediatrician and he suggested trying cereal as she might not be satisfied enough with just breastmilk.  I waited for about a week to see if it would change and once it didnt - I gave in!  (I was hoping to wait until the recommended 6 months age but the girl was hungry...and momma was tired!)
Kal's new toy to keep her occupied in the highchair....she looks less than pleased here - but she actually loves it!

She did NOT like it the first time she ate it.

She is loving the cereal now & cant get enough.  She still has to take a bite or 2 before she remembers what it is and then chow's down!

We stayed up WAY to late, played our favorite games (and a couple new ones!) & just enjoyed talking and hanging out with our girls!
Kal loved watching Hallie & Harper - we really had the best time.  We cant wait to get together again soon!!!!!!!

Baby Einstein entertained ALL 3 girls for a solid 10 minutes.  Amazing!

5 months

My oh my Kallen.  5 months old!
You are grabbing at everything!  Gone are the days to hold things in my other hand (such as my phone, remote, water bottle,  food, etc)

Kali you are one chatty kathy!  You just babble and talk (or scream) all the time!

At your 4 month appointment you weighed 14 lbs 6 oz (50%ile) & 24 1/2 inches long (70%ile)

You are in size 3 diapers and wearing 6 mos and 6-12 month clothing
You are in bed by 8 and were sleeping until about 5 am...but about a week or 2 before you were 5 months you started waking up a few times at night.  Sometimes you want to eat & others you just want your paci.

Therefore...it was noted that you might be ready for cereal - so we started on Friday, your 5 month birthday (pictures to come)!  You ate some, but werent a huge fan but I hope it helps with the sleeping!  Momma is tired!
Since I wrote this you have come around to the cereal!  You need about 3-4 bites to remember what your eating and then you go to town!

You can 'gorilla sit' pretty well before you fall over - you are not a fan of laying down!

You LOVE your bumbo seat.  I think you enjoy being able to see all the action & what's going on.
You have been grabbing my face alot - and pulling it to yours, it is so sweet.

You are nursing every 3 hours throughout the day - and take about 4.5 oz when you have a bottle.

Your laugh is just so sweet.  I love it!

We finally put you in your crib this past weekend - and you did great!  I am not going to lie, I think it was more difficult for me :)  ha!

When you get excited you open your mouth and cuddle into me - it is just the best.  I love it!

You absolutely love being sung too.  I feel like I sing all day long to you!  Your favorite 'tune' to listen too right now is Rolling in the Deep ;)  ha!  You also love 'You are my sunshine', 'Baby Beluga', 'Jesus Loves me', & 'the more we get together'.  Yes, we sing alot around here!!

Kallen, you are such a sassy fun girl!  We love you so much & I wouldnt trade my days with you for anything.  I love how your personality shows more & more each day.  I love being your momma!!!!!

March for Babies 2011

We had the March for Babies walk yesterday morning - and we froze our behinds off!  It was seriously cold.  On May 1st - what in the world.  We still had a wonderful turnout - we have so many family and friends who continue to love & support us and it truly means so much.  I did get some random shots of our group after the walk - some had left and my fingers froze after 2.3 seconds of having my gloves off so they were quick snaps and we were headed to warmer weather!  (a heated car - not anywhere fun!)  We raised almost $1000 and are so grateful for the generosity for this wonderful cause.  (I dont know why it only shows $25 on my side bar).
Kali all bundled up - she slept through the entire walk!
My sister (on right) and her bffffffff Kaitlyn (who is practically my second sis)
Kal, myself & Joshua.  We were all bundled up - couldnt see our Emma t-shirts - or Kallen for that matter!
They had stars lined up for each family team - here is ours!  (Our Emma)
Adrian all snuggled up & warm!
Hannah!  Such a sweet & cute girl!

Thank you so much for each and every person (& baby!) that came out in support of this wonderful cause that means so much to us.  We miss Emma everyday and I love that we can have this time each year to walk to raise money & awareness for the fight against prematurity and pregnancy complications.  We hope and pray one day that ALL babies are born full term, healthy & happy, what a wonderful day that will be!
