6 months

This is about a week late, but my sister's graduation party was this weekend, along with 3 other cousins as well...so we have been busy!  I am way behind on blog posts but never late than never!

I dont know how this happened, but my baby girl is 6 months old!  I feel like it was yesterday that we were at the hospital waiting to meet this beautiful girl!!  (Yes, I know I say this all the time...but I just cant believe it!)

-You are wearing  6-9, 9 month & 6-12 month clothes (all depending on the brand)

-You are in size 3 diapers

-At your 6 month appointment you weighed 17 lbs (40th percentile) and were 26 inches (50th percentile)

-Everything is in your mouth!  You are a drooling machine!
-You love to sit up!  You are getting better & stronger each day and prefer to sit up over laying down.

-You love your jumparoo!  You get so excited in there!

-You can roll both ways

-You LOVE your lovie.  We had 2, and I just got another one for a safety net!  It has already come in handy :)
-You are eating cereal like a champ.  You still need a couple bites to remind yourself that you like it but then go to town.

-We started you on vegetables the day after your 6 month bday and so far you have had green beans, sweet potatoes & carrots (I know there is a little debate with the carrots but our pediatrician said they are fine) and you have loved all, but I dont think the sweet potatoes sat well with you.  You spit up a ton that day/night and had some nasty, nasty diapers.  So...those are on the back burner for a few days to see if it happens again.  Momma loves that I can mix it with the cereal and save the 'liquid gold' breast milk....that is a precious commodity around here!

-You love to get cleaned off after you eat.  It is too funny!  I have cleaned many, many, many children's hands and faces off in my day and usually it is a scream/fight to get all cleaned up.  You smile when you see me pull the washcloth out of the drawer to get it wet.  I first thought it was a fluke but you have been happy everytime!
-You are eating cereal with a vegetable for breakfast & dinner (recommended by her pediatrician) and still nursing every 3-4 hours and drinking 4-5 oz.
-You take two 45 minute naps a day.  Sometimes the morning nap can last up to 1.5 hours, but those days are far & few between!

-You are in bed by 7-7:30 and sleep until about 5:30.  Sometimes you will sleep until 6-6:30 and that is always a great day :)  We usually watch Mickey Mouse clubhouse off the dvr because that is the only thing that can entertain & keep you still for about 20 minutes while momma pulls her eyelids open...

-We have been giving you baths in the tub lately and you love it!  You get so excited and love to splash your hands in the water.
My sweet, sweet baby girl, I love you more than words can say.  My heart just wants to burst when I think of how much I love you.  You are such a sassy dramatic little thing and I love watching you grow each and everyday.  I love being your momma and am eternally grateful that God blessed us so abundantly with our perfect little girl.  We love you Kal!

Auntie Nikki's graduation

This past weekend we had my baby sister's highschool graduation!!!  I cannot believe she is that old, and will be going off to college in a couple short months!  Yikes!

Kallen did great at the graduation, it was my sister's dream to have a niece or nephew at her graduation so we had to take her ;)  She woke up just as it started & just took everything in.  She babbled & fussed a little at the end, but otherwise did just wonderful.  That's my girl!

She was a little scared of her auntie's hat

Nikki took off her hat, but Kal was still not having it!
She was okay as long as momma was holding her...but still stared at that silly blue hat
Kali with Great Grandpa & Grandma!
Oh highschool...I do not miss thee.  I had fun, but have no desire to go back!
It did look very nice though.  They have done alot of remodeling since I was there!
All the graduates walking in!
Nikki is in there....the short blond

My camera died after this picture...so thats all I have!  I was going to steal some from my sister's facebook but apparently you cant download the pictures anymore?  Ugh annoying!

Congratulations Sister!!!!!!!!!  We love you sooooo much and are so proud of you!

Kallen turned SIX months yesterday!!!  Oh my word.  I will have her 6 month post up soon!

Chocolate chip pound cake

I first saw this cake on the Francis Family Blog  and knew I had to make it, it looked delicious!  Destinee beat me to it and brought me a piece to try...and friends it did not disappoint!!!  Seriously so good.   I am going to plead the 5th on how many times I have made this cake.

Chocolate Chip Pound Cake

  • 1 (3.9 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup vegetable oil

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
Mix together all ingredients. Stir in chocolate chips by hand. Bake at 325 degrees for 50 or 60 minutes in a bundt pan coated with Pam.

This was 6:30 Friday night.  She could not keep her eyes open - and hadnt had her last feeding either!
Needless to say I gave her a bottle and she was out!  I was worried she would get up again - but didnt wake up until 5!  She is definitely not a night owl :)  must take after her momma!

momma was tired (time for cereal!)

We started giving Kallen rice cereal on her 5 month birthday (5/6/11).  She had been sleeping through the night and eating consistently every 3-3.5 hours and then all of a sudden she was waking up in the night again to eat & wanting to nurse about every 2.5 hours during the day.  So I talked to her pediatrician and he suggested trying cereal as she might not be satisfied enough with just breastmilk.  I waited for about a week to see if it would change and once it didnt - I gave in!  (I was hoping to wait until the recommended 6 months age but the girl was hungry...and momma was tired!)
Kal's new toy to keep her occupied in the highchair....she looks less than pleased here - but she actually loves it!

She did NOT like it the first time she ate it.

She is loving the cereal now & cant get enough.  She still has to take a bite or 2 before she remembers what it is and then chow's down!
